On Friday June 6th, Jer took off work and we went to Old Salem in Winston-Salem about 50 miles west of us. Old Salem is a village started in the late 1700s by the Moravians, a religious group that came here from Germany. It reminded me of Nauvoo where they have some homes and buildings where they dress up, do demonstrations and talk to you about what it was like back in the 1700s. They still make things to sell using the old methods. We went to a tavern/hotel where George Washington visited and slept. There was a shoemaker, a bakery, an apothecary and a few other homes that we were able to visit. Most of the homes are private residences and all of the buildings are on or near one street. The Moravians still have a church and offices by the main street and they also have a cemetery where all of the head stones are flat on the ground, because in death they are all equal. We also went to their toy museum -- that was really fun to see. The detail of the doll houses and the other toys was amazing! It was so so so hot, but we had a great time. Jer's sister went home the next day. It was so fun to have a visitor and to spend time with her.

That place is gorgeous. I love the green...it looks like you guys are having fun. And that bridge...WOW. Sorry about the humidity. Isn't it awful? At least you'll save money on lotion, right??? :) My skin was always soft in Louisiana.
